High‐Throughput Ammonia Production from Nitrate Using Liquid Metal Synthesized Bismuth Nano‐Catalyst (Adv. Energy Mater. 28/2024)

Ammonia Production By precisely depositing materials at the microscale through 3D printing of catalysts and graphene liquid crystals, in article 2304287, Kourosh Kalantar-Zadeh, Ali (Rouhollah) Jalili, Dorna Esrafilzadeh, and co-workers create a high-performance electrochemical system for the efficient conversion of nitrate to ammonia. This process...

Amorphous Nanomaterials: Emerging Catalysts for Electrochemical Carbon Dioxide Reduction

Amorphous nanomaterials with long-range disordered structures are recently demonstrated as emerging catalysts for electrocatalytic carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction reaction (CO2RR). This review outlines the rational synthesis and intrinsic merits of amorphous electrocatalysts for highly efficient CO2RR. Perspectives on the remaining challenges and some...

Effects of Ligand Chemistry on Ion Transport in 2D Hybrid Organic–Inorganic Perovskites

This study leverages molecular dynamics simulation and experimental characterization to elucidate the effects of ligand chemistry on suppressing ion transport in 2D hybrid-inorganic perovskites. Analyses reveal that increasing stiffness and length of ligands generally inhibits ion transport, while increasing ligand polarization generally enhances...

A Fundamental Correlative Spectroscopic Study on Li1‐xNiO2 and NaNiO2

The electronic and local structures of Li1-xNiO2 and NaNiO2 are investigated using operando and ex situ spectroscopy techniques alongside ab initio calculations. This approach, relying on standardized interoperable samples, confirms bond disproportionation and emphasizes the highly covalent Ni-O bond's role in charge compensation mechanisms when LiNiO2...

Low Temperature Fast Mixed OH−/H+ Ionic Conductor in Doped Strontium Cerates

Here the discovery of mixed OH−/H+ conduction in doped SrCeO3 ceramics at temperatures below 100 °C is presented. A typical high ionic conductivity of 20% Y doped SrCeO3 in water is 12 mS cm−1 at 60 °C. Ionic conductivity of oxides in KOH solution is greatly enhanced due to ‘feeding effect’. Abstract The drawbacks of high temperature solid...

A Bio‐Inspired Dendritic MoOx Electrocatalyst for Efficient Electrochemical Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia

A bio-inspired, reduced molybdenum oxide catalyst supported on a dendritic nickel foam core (MoOx/NiNF) is reported. The MoOx/NiNF electrocatalyst displays faradaic efficiencies (FE) of up to 99% for the reduction of nitrate to ammonia and maintains an average FE of ≈83% for over 3100 h of operation at −650 mA cm−2. Abstract Drawing inspiration...
