Lara presents FAIR Plan reform that could allow fire insurers to assess policyholders

California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara on Friday announced a change to the California FAIR Plan Association, the state’s residential insurer of last resort, that would allow its member insurance companies to assess policyholders in addition to themselves in the case of catastrophic fires that push the FAIR Plan to insolvency.
