How do I use a promo code or coupon?

Both go in the same field. When you buy Pro on the web, click Have a discount code? Enter it here. in the payment dialog, or Discount code on the Upgrade page, paste the code and click Apply. A discount code lowers the first payment of an annual Pro plan, and a coupon is prepaid Pro time that you activate with Confirm.

Apply a discount code at checkout

1. Open Upgrade and click the Pro plan's buy button, or click Upgrade in Billing and usage.
2. In the payment dialog choose the annual plan and click Have a discount code? Enter it here.
3. Paste the code and click Apply. The price updates and the code shows as Applied.
4. Pay as usual.

On the Upgrade page, Discount code opens the same field with Apply code.

What a discount code changes

A percentage code lowers only the first payment of an annual plan, and monthly prices are never discounted. Renewals are charged at the full price. A free-months code keeps the full price and adds the months to that first year. VAT is added on top of the discounted price. Codes work in the web checkout of the Pro plan, not in App Store or Google Play purchases, and each code has an end date.

During a promotion, the promotion's code is applied for you and no other code can be entered.

Redeem a coupon

1. Open the payment dialog for Pro and click Have a discount code? Enter it here.
2. Paste the coupon and click Apply.
3. Click Confirm in the dialog that asks whether to activate the Pro plan until the coupon's end date, for example Nov 28, 2026.

Inoreader then opens Billing and usage. A coupon works once, needs no payment method and never renews: at its end the account goes back to Free and an email says the plan ended.

A coupon can't be redeemed while a plan renews automatically. Click Cancel auto-renew in Billing and usage first, then redeem it again, as What happens if I cancel my subscription? explains. With a plan that doesn't renew, the remaining days are kept and the coupon's days start at its end date.
