How do I delete my account?

Go to Preferences > Account > Delete account, click Delete account and data, choose a reason and click I'm sure, send me deletion email. Then open the email and confirm with Delete everything within 24 hours.

Before you delete

Deletion is permanent and the account can't be restored, so export what you want to keep first from the Export and backup tab, as Can I export my subscriptions and content? explains.

While a web subscription renews automatically, the tab says "You cannot delete your account while auto-renewal is enabled." instead of showing the button. Turn off auto-renewal under Billing and usage first: you keep the plan until the end of the paid period, as What happens if I cancel my subscription? describes.

An App Store or Google Play subscription is billed by Apple or Google, so stop it in the store, or it keeps charging after the account is gone. How do I stop a subscription purchased through the App Store or Google Play? shows where.

A Team owner with other members in the Team can't delete the account, so contact support from the same tab.

Request the deletion email

  1. Click the gear at the bottom of the tab bar and open Account > Delete account.
  2. Click Delete account and data.
  3. Choose a reason and click I'm sure, send me deletion email.

The Delete account tab in Preferences with the warning text and the Contact support, Export my data and Delete account and data buttons.

Some reasons offer an alternative first, such as Contact support or the 14-day Pro trial.

Confirm from the email

The email comes from [email protected] with the subject "Anna, use this link to delete your Inoreader account" and a Delete your Inoreader account button. The link works for 24 hours, and after that you sign in to request a new one. On the page it opens, Delete everything confirms.

Confirming signs you out at once and removes the password and the Google, Apple and Facebook sign-in. Inoreader then deletes your subscriptions, folders and tags, read, starred, liked and tagged articles, saved web pages, uploads, highlights and notes, summaries and reports, rules, monitoring feeds, boosted feeds, preferences, OPML backups, sessions and app tokens, notifications, Team and channel membership, and finally the account itself. A Team member leaves the Team this way, and the mobile apps offer the same deletion by email link.

Deleting the account works the same on every plan, and Where can I manage my account settings? shows where the Account tabs are.
